Over the years, one of the most efficient calorie burning routines around has been the treadmill. At the same time, it can be so terribly boring for most people, especially when they have to go to the gym and do the same routine on the treadmill over and over every day. When you get to this point, the only way to make it interesting is engaging in several treadmill workouts at certain intervals. This involves mixing up your speed, adding floor exercises into the routine instead of just trudging although at a steady pace.
So if you want to add a little spice to your treadmill routine, here are a few suggested treadmill workouts that will help keep things interesting while you’re burning up those calories
Circuits
This is a routine that involves incorporating different exercise with your treadmill experience. First, warm up for about ten minutes and then sprint for about three minutes after which you then move to performing a different exercise like sit ups or push ups. After a while, get back on the treadmill and run for few minutes and then back again for another exercise. After 30 minutes of the circuit, you can cool down with about ten minutes of walking on the treadmill at a slower pace.
Weight Loss Shuffle
This is one routine that is considered to be monotonous as it just involves running while staying ahead.
You can start out with about five minute warm up on the treadmill at a steady pace. After the warm up, you can shuffle to your right for about a minute and then completely to the right for another shuffling of about a minute also. After you have done for all the sides, face straight ahead again and run for another say five minutes and then repeat the process over and over until your time is done. Take about five minutes and cool down.
Television Tempo
This involves the television being kept in view from the treadmill and can be a very interesting way to spice up your treadmill time. Use it to set a challenging tempo that will help in getting your heart rate up for burning calories and at the same time getting some entertainment. Take the time to warm up before any program starts, say about ten minutes and then once the program begins, increase to a sprint until the show comes to an end or a commercial break and then you now cool down for about five minutes.
Among the numerous advantages of a treadmill are:
- The treadmill workout allows you to exercise in all sorts of climates and is one of the most reliable exercises for cardio.
- This routine is also good for the health other than being just good for our sanity. This will keep your body confused, causing you never to be used to a particular workout resulting the maximum amount of calories that will be burnt.
